Why trying to ‘diet’ and ‘eat clean’ is a load of crap in January
You know when you promise yourself after Christmas and New Years that you’ll ‘eat clean’?
And do you remember each and every time feeling guilty when you slipped up with that wine with a friend on a sat arvo or that pasta dinner you ate with the fan?
Well we’re calling it – ‘dieting’ and ‘eating clean’ can sometimes be a total load of crap (#bullocks).
I so often hear people beating themselves up or feeling so super guilty about what they’ve eaten and drunk.
But – our whole lifestyle and culture is BASED around good food and wine. That’s how we socialise, we connect, we meet people and we enjoy life.
It’s not based around kale salads and green smoothies in the morning.
That’s why we believe it’s completely unrealistic to assume that you’ll all of a sudden turn your entire lifestyle around and start eating kale by yourself at home.
Instead, be kind to yourself – don’t go and eat a butt-load of deep-fried ‘food’ and wash it down with soda – that’s being mean to yourself.
But enjoy your lifestyle – know that you love your food and enjoy the incredible tastes that are out there and the delicious wines that go so well with cheese. And don’t beat yourself up about eating these things.
But I feel like a beached whale (I hear you say)…
Yup, we hear you! There’s that uncomfortable flabby feeling we all feel after Christmas and New Years and I get that you want to do something about it – but the only info out there is to go on a crazy green smoothie diet.
What WE’RE saying is this – Get stuck into your exercise. As soon as you start moving more, you’ll start feeling more confident, stronger and happier. AND if you need a kick-start – grab our FREE Reboot your Fitness, Health and Well-being in 7 Days or Less kickstart.
THE best bit?
Moving more and feeling better about yourself ultimately leads to healthier food choices being made (without you even realising it).
And for those that REALLY want to do something extra and more drastic – pick something that still fits within your lifestyle. For example, cutting down on the high processed carbs (bread, pasta and potato).
You can still comfortably enjoy your lifestyle but cut down on these items without missing out.
(did you notice we never said cut out cheese!)
Exercise is there to make you feel good, and to fit around your gourmet lifestyle. Food is there to be enjoyed with friends and family, and clean eating is there for on occasion when you do just need something simple and light – not something that you should expect becomes a norm when it doesn’t actually make you happy or you enjoy it.
Stop the guilt. Enjoy your lifestyle and social life and exercise to keep a happy, healthy balance.
